I recently fell in love with Colleen Ho’s dainty drawings and the innovative technique she uses to create them. Her pieces show her interest in the various patterns and structures in nature, a lot of them remind me of the veins noticeable in leaves.
She creates this work by puncturing paper with a thumbtack repeatedly, leaving a tactile relief to the surface. It seems like a very relaxing and methodical way of mark making. These pieces also remind me of summery embroidered shirts and shorts, I’m really drawn to the lace like patterns. Swoon!
