Salzer’s patterned pants and lavender pumps are fierce!
I spent last Wednesday and Thursday in Manhattan attending IFB’s February conference. Working from home each day can be lonely, and so it was nice to partake in a conference where I was able to connect with likeminded people.
Here are some highlights from the CEO talks and keynote speaker at IFB. Regardless of your job or stage in life, I thought these tips could be applied to everyone in a variety of ways. Enjoy!
Wednesdays CEO talk was given by the fabulous Lisa Salzer from the jewelry brand, Lulu Frost. She looked effortlessly polished (my favorite combo) and dazzled in her vintage inspired jewelry. Bits of inspiration from Lisa :
“Find a mentor, meet often and never put your pen down.”
“Surround yourself with people who want you to succeed.”
“When you feel fear embrace it and dive right in.”
“Make sure you have something worth saying and that it’s original.”
The keynote speaker that night was the Co-CEO of Birchbox (a great idea & all over amazing brand). I really enjoyed hearing the journey she took from business school student to running a successful beauty company.
“When starting a business, you must identify a problem and have a solution.”
“In the year 2013, brands want to work with bloggers and tastemakers. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and connect with brands you’re passionate about.”
“When reaching out to brands keep your email short, yet compelling.”
In my opinion, the most influential talk of the whole conference was given Thursday afternoon by the Co-CEO of Warby Parker, Neil Blumenthal. We all know I love a man in glasses and Warby Parker’s lenses hit the spot. Neil has become my new entrepreneur crush, I could have listened to the guy talk about his business for hours. Highlights :
“You have to be thoughtful and deliberate to build a successful brand.”
“Figure out early on what your brand is and what it isn’t.”
“Be approachable to others, not pretentious.”
“Always exceed customers expectations.”
“Set a social mission and stick with it regardless of how much your brand evolves.”
“Build a relationship with your customers based on trust.”
