Returned last night from the Berkshires and I’m already missing the crisp air + beautiful scenery. If you call New England home, I’d highly recommend taking a road trip this fall to check out this lovely section of Massachusetts. Although it is much larger (in other words, a half hour minimum to get between sites) than I expected, I arrived at each destination feeling like the hike was most definitely worth it. I’m looking forward to my next trip back. Check out a few of my must-sees!
I’m always a fan of charming B&Bs when lodging in New England, so the Seven Hills Inn felt like an ideal fit. Our room was spacious and even included a cozy fireplace! I’ve also heard great things about the gorgeous Wheatleigh Hotel and by judging from the website, the property looks like it wouldn’t disappoint!
We enjoyed our time at Hilltop Orchards so much that we decided to visit Saturday and Sunday. During our first trip we took a hayride to pick apples, indulged in a wine tasting, snapped photos with pumpkins and sampled fresh treats from the Doughnut Queen (promised a shout out). The second trip we went on a scenic hike through the back half of the orchards. This place certainly had a little bit of everything!
On Monday, we explored the pumpkin patch and corn maze at Whitney’s Farm. I had never seen so many pumpkins in one place. We also picked up some ripe ingredients at the farmer’s market for our home cooked dinner last night.
The ability to locate delicious meals in a new area should be marked as a strength on my résumé. If you’re a loyal fan of Flour Bakery in Boston, you should make a pit stop for a weekend brunch at Haven Cafe and Bakery next time you’re in Lenox. Make sure you try the homemade blueberry pancakes!
I would highly recommend dinner at Nudel. This clever pasta bar combines classic seasonal ingredients with a twist. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when ordering the Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese, but the dish ended up being extremely delicious.
Want to sip on a fall cocktail and a nibble on a nice seafood meal by a cozy fireplace? Look no further than Mill on the Floss. This restaurant was a classic Berkshires find and the ideal place to relax on a Sunday night. I fell in love with the woodsy ambiance and laid-back vibe instantly.
